The Gospel

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures

and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.

- 1 Corinthians 15:3-5

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.

And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;

and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.

- 1 John 2:1-2

Gospel Summary

1. Separation: Due to rebellion against God from the beginning of all mankind until now, all have been separated from God (Romans 5:12; 1 Corinthians 15:21-22).

2. Justice: God, who is Holy and Righteous in character and all His ways, shall Judge all the earth righteously and perfectly (Ecclesiastes 12:14; Revelation 20:11-15).

3. Loving Sacrifice: God is also loving, and not having pleasure in the destruction of the wicked (Ezekiel 18:32), He sent his only Begotten Son to suffer punishment in our place, so that all who trust in the Son's sacrifice may be made the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ (John 3:16-17; 2 Corinthians 5:21).

4. Death Defeated: After Jesus died on a cross, he was buried and 3 days later he rose from the dead, and will forever be alive, crowned as Lord of lords and King of kings (Matthew 27:57-60; Acts 2:22-36).

5. Response: It is all people's responsibility to turn from their sin, and place their faith in the promise of God giving justification for sins, and eternal life through Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1; 10:9, Ephesians 2:8).
