If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9)

Welcome new believer, God has caused you to be born again (1 Pet 1:3).  That sounds odd but you will understand better and take great joy in this truth.  The Bible describes believers as a “new creature” (2 Cor 5:17).  This new creature is not of flesh and bone, but of Spirit (John 3:6).  This truth is not a metaphor, rather a spiritual reality that is fundamental to our life and experiences which has an everlasting impact according to the kindness of our Lord.

This new birth and spiritual growth is eternally planned by our heavenly Father, irreversible, and will inevitably lead to all those who place their faith in Jesus Christ as their savior to be conformed to His perfect and righteous image (Romans 8:28-30).  In the famous hymn ‘Amazing Grace’, the words, “I once was lost, but now I’m found; Was blind, but now I see”, perfectly describe the perspective of someone who has been born again.  Can a lost thing be unfound?  Can someone who receives sight un-see? No! In the same way, and by the power of Jesus Christ, neither can we be unborn of the Spirit.

So what does God want us to do now?  Should we religiously attend church every weekend?  Should we get baptized?  Should we take immediate action and become international missionaries?  Should we sell all of our possessions and give them to charity?  Perhaps, but the Bible is very clear about what God wants from every believer:

For this is the will of God, your sanctification (1 Thessalonians 4:3)

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2)

Sanctification – Being set apart or made Holy.  If you truly have faith in Christ, you have been sanctified and will continue being sanctified until you are glorified in the image of your Lord.  This means renewing your mind to truth, continually repenting from sin, and being bold and courageous in faith for every work God will lead us to and through in this life for His ultimate glory (Philippians 2:13).

Now that the Lord’s command has gone forth and you have a basic understanding of God’s will for your life, we would be honored and humbled if our church and leadership can help you along with the journey.  We strongly recommend going through the book ‘Fundamentals of the Faith’ by John MacArthur.  It is a 13 lesson workbook that blends biblical truth with personal obedience and service for new followers of our King Jesus.  The lessons have corresponding sermons found here (click), covering the following topics:
